Role Overview:

We are looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to lead the design and delivery of scalable backend services, integration platforms, distributed systems, and AI-enabled capabilities.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for backend engineering quality, technical direction, production reliability, and the development of the backend engineering team.

The ideal candidate combines strong backend and distributed systems engineering experience with the ability to work across cloud, integration, data, and modern AI application architectures.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of backend services, APIs, integration services, and distributed systems.
• Translate product and solution architecture requirements into practical technical designs and implementation plans.
• Define backend architecture, service boundaries, integration patterns, data flows, and reusable platform capabilities.
• Ensure backend systems meet requirements for scalability, security, reliability, performance, maintainability, and operational readiness.
• Provide technical direction, design reviews, code reviews, and engineering guidance to Backend and Integration engineers.
• Lead engineering practices around software quality, production readiness, observability, automation, and technical standards.
• Work closely with Solution Architecture, Product, Frontend, QA, DevOps/SRE, and Data/AI teams.
• Design and support backend capabilities for AI-enabled applications, LLM integration, AI Agents, intelligent workflows, and enterprise tool integration.
• Troubleshoot complex production, integration, performance, and reliability issues.
• Mentor engineers and continuously improve the technical capability of the backend team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of professional backend engineering experience, with experience in a Senior or Technical Lead capacity.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and delivering production-grade backend systems.
• Strong knowledge of Backend Engineering and Distributed Systems, including service design, data management, asynchronous processing, consistency, reliability, security, and software quality.
• Strong knowledge of System Integration and API Architecture, including enterprise integration and service communication patterns.
• Experience with Cloud-Native Engineering and modern software delivery practices.
• Good understanding of Production Engineering, including performance, scalability, observability, resilience, and operational reliability.
• Understanding of AI Application Architecture, including how backend platforms integrate with LLMs, AI models, agents, enterprise data, tools, and external services.
• Ability to translate high-level architecture into detailed technical design and implementation.
• Strong technical leadership, analytical thinking, debugging, and engineering decision-making skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and working effectively with cross-functional teams.

Good to Have

Experience or knowledge in some of the following areas is an advantage:

• Microservices, event-driven architecture, workflow platforms, event streaming, and high-throughput systems.
• Kubernetes, API management, platform engineering, observability, and DevOps/SRE practices.
• LLM integration, AI Agents, Agentic workflows, RAG, semantic search, vector databases, AI gateways, model orchestration, MCP, and AI observability/evaluation.
• Enterprise platforms, multi-tenant SaaS, identity and access management, and complex system integration.
• IoT, Smart Building, robotics, Digital Twin, real-time telemetry, or connected-device platforms.
• Mapping, geospatial, routing, spatial data, and location-based services.
• Data platforms, analytics, Computer Vision, and real-time data processing.

Deep expertise across all areas is not required. Strong engineering fundamentals, technical breadth, and the ability to rapidly understand emerging technologies are more important.
